Clyde and I are semi-retiring and moving off of the property at Big Cypress Gallery. We have loved living there and will miss the lush greenery and the adventures of all the wildlife. We will still use our house as our "swamp cottage in the woods", but we want to give other people the opportunity to experience the peace and beauty of nature that we have experienced for the past sixteen years of living in the swamp. Our swamp cottage is going to be available for those of you who need a respite from the hectic rush of your daily life. |

The Swamp Cottage is nestled on 13 peaceful and beautiful lush subtropical acres surrounded by a million acres of wilderness. Located behind Clyde Butcher's Big Cypress Gallery, the cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated with an enclosed sunporch overlooking a large pond frequently visited by the local wildlife. It's the perfect paradise for nature lovers, those who need a respite from the hectic rush of your daily life or for those who wish to see and experience the stunning beauty and amazing adventures this area has to offer.

Surrounding the Swamp Cottage, the Florida Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve, Shark Valley and Ten Thousand Islands are just some of the wild and wonderful ecosystems that provide plenty of sightseeing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, airboat and swamp buggy tours. Observe alligators, herons, bald eagles, spoonbills, white-tailed deer, bobcats and the endangered Florida panther. You will also see exotic plant life such as wild orchids, bromeliads and cypress, to name just a few, that grow abundantly here.
Close by, in Everglades City, you can eat at one of the many excellent seafood restaurants, take boat tours through the Mangrove Tunnels and the Ten Thousand Islands, rent kayaks, canoes or chartered airboat rides or visit the historic Chokoloskee Island.
Naples, about an hour away, offers plenty of shopping, from small boutiques and shops to the large chain and department stores plus fine and casual dining with many flavorful culinary experiences.
