Adams-Ranch
I have been fortunate to visit many of Florida’s ranches. It is always a joy to be with people who love the land and understand the need to take care of it so that their livelihood will not disappear. One of the great ranches in Florida is the Adams Ranch. The ranch is known for its environmental stand, so spending the day with Bud Adams was inspirational. In the middle of the day, Bud invited us to his house for lunch. When I walked into the house there were several ‘Beanie’ Backus paintings hanging on the walls. When I commented on the paintings Bud told me that Beanie was a friend and that he spent a lot of time out in the wilds of the Adams Ranch painting and sketching.  Most people have no idea that a very large number of Beanie Backus paintings were created on the Adams Ranch property. That made me smile, realizing that a fellow artist saw the beauty of Florida in his heart and wanted to share that beauty through his paintings so that others could see it too.
