MYAKKA LIVE OAK © 2017
Myakka State Park, Sarasota, FL
Photographic Story
Hurricane Irma had ravaged Florida and we were concerned how Myakka State Park fared with the winds, so we grabbed our cameras and took a drive to make sure the Park was okay. It was, but it looked a little banged up. Not too many trees were down and violent damage was only in small areas. We were greatly relieved. As we were driving around, we came across this wonderful oak tree and marveled at how it survived not only this hurricane, but also all the other hurricanes that came before Irma. Through it all, this tree became a beautiful sculpture. This reminded me of people I know who have had trauma in their lives but worked their way through it and come out even more beautiful.
