MANY GLACIER 1 © 2013Glacier National Park
A few years before Glacier became a national park, the naturalist John Muir visited and declared the landscape “the best care-killing scenery on the continent.” After getting up at three in the morning and driving to the area I wanted to photograph, we noticed that the sun wasn’t where we thought it would be. As the sun crested over the horizon, I realized that it was coming up much further north than I had expected. Niki and I waited for the sun to continue its trip to a higher point in the sky; it felt good to sit quietly and take in that care-killing view. Later that morning, the light was perfect, and some clouds finally appeared. It was a peaceful day, with good photography; what more could I ask for?
