After spending time as an Artist-in-Residence in the Rocky Mountain National Park, we drove over the “hill” and visited the Arches. As you may imagine, it was a very different environment compared to the green of the Rocky Mountains, but it was very stimulating to the eye. The shapes, textures, and shadows made for incredible photographic opportunities, but we were not prepared for the over one hundred degree temperatures, so we didn’t stay very long. Most people take close-ups of the arches, but I wanted to give the viewer a greater sense of the surrounding area, so I framed a view that encompasses the sky, plants, and odd shapes that make up the environment of Three Elephants.
This photograph is hand-printed in Clyde’s darkroom on fiber-based paper, selenium toned, then mounted and matted to current archival standards. The photograph is a limited edition and signed by Clyde.
