FOGGY FOREST 1 © 1971Redwood National Park, CA
The redwood forests near the Pacific Ocean have a mystical feeling about them, which is even more intense when the fog rolls in. Everything becomes quiet, still, and otherworldly, giving me a deep sense of peace. One morning, I woke up early to a beautiful morning fog and dashed out to take some photos, but when I got home, my film was blank! I was so upset. I assumed my light meter had broken, so I threw it away. Later, I learned my photos did not turn out due to reciprocity failure. Determined not to repeat my mistake, I returned to Northern California’s redwood forest to try again. I was fortunate to have another early morning fog, and I was able to capture this image by using the correct exposure.
