Gwynns Falls Leakin Park is one of the beautiful secrets of Baltimore, Maryland. Designed by the Olmsted Brothers, son’s of the famous designer of Central Park, it is 1,216 acres of beautiful wilderness in the midst of a booming city. It is the largest woodland park of any city on the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Hiking though the park, I found myself forgetting that I was in a city. I felt a wonderful connection to nature and found a deep appreciation for the visionary founders of Baltimore who included a wilderness area for the people so that they would have a place to restore their spirit.

Sitting in nature with the person I love and waiting for a full moon to rise over the horizon while the rest of the cares of the world drift away is one of the best ways to spend an evening.

After the moon rose, Niki and I sat and watched the moon as it climbed into the sky.

Every once in a while, getting up to take another photograph of the composition as the moon traveled across the heavens.

It was a beautiful evening and one I’ll remember for a long time.

As Clyde stood in the water, waiting for the right

As Clyde stood in the water, waiting for the right light to take this photograph, he was suddenly petrified to see what looked like a torpedo coming toward him!

He thought a gator was heading, full speed, toward him and wondered what he could do.

When the wake finally reached him, it turned out to be a playful otter!

Boy, was he relieved!

He swam around Clyde in a curious fashion, and then went on his way.

I'm so proud of my wife Niki! She has her first official book signing coming up this Saturday at the Clearwater Library, 11 am - 1 pm. Niki's book Daydreaming is a collection of hand-painted photographs she has made over the past five decades. You can also see her exhibit while you are there.
