“Lifeworks in Photography” Book Shipping Updat

“Lifeworks in Photography” Book Shipping Update 📷 Clyde's highly-anticipated NEW Lifeworks book arrived at the port just before Hurricane Helene, but unloading for the shipment was delayed due to a port strike.

Then, with Milton on its way, we had to ask the shipper to hold off on delivery until we could safely receive them!

Now, we're happy to report that the books should arrive soon, but please, bear with us as we get organized. With these storms, business has been a bit of a mess, and we need time to put everything back together.

We estimate we’ll start shipping by the first week of November—just in time for the holidays!

We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenging times. With the holidays and other events fast approaching, we’re doing our best to get back on track.

Please know that we are working hard to restore normal operations as quickly as possible, and we’re grateful to have such a supportive community.

We know that many of you, like us, have been impacted by the devastating effects of both Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Our hearts go out to everyone in our community and beyond who are facing challenges during this time. We are incredibly grateful for the safety of our team and loved ones, and we extend our thoughts and prayers to all of you affected by these storms.

Wishing everyone strength, a swift recovery, and the hope of brighter days ahead.

Sadly, this lone mangrove was lost when Hurricane Irma ravaged the Florida Keys in 2017.

Following Hurricane Milton, the Big Cypress Galler

Following Hurricane Milton, the Big Cypress Gallery has returned to normal operations, open 7-days a week from 10 am to 5 pm. We are very grateful to report that the gallery was not impacted by the storm.

We are still planning to go ahead with the event this Saturday, October 19th at the Big Cypress Gallery. The fundraiser with the Alliance for Florida’s National Parks @nationalparksfl for the SWAMP education program will continue, and the Rangers will be there with educational booths, field experiments, and swamp walks all day long!

Clyde and Niki Butcher will no longer be able to attend Saturday’s swamp celebration, but we assure you that their absence is for positive reasons— we will have exciting news to share soon.

All scheduled events, including swamp walks, will proceed as planned. We are still expecting this to be a wonderful event!

It’s hard to put into words the last few weeks.

It’s hard to put into words the last few weeks. Hurricane Milton has certainly thrown us all for a loop, and we’re still trying to make sense of it all. It’s been an emotional roller coaster, and we appreciate your patience as we get back on track.

First, we want to say how fortunate we feel. Although our Venice gallery sustained some minor damage—a little roof damage and a missing sign—we’re grateful to have been spared the worst of the storm.

Just a few miles south, the storm surge reached 13-15 feet, but we only experienced minimal flooding. That being said, we know many of our team members and community weren’t as lucky. Some of our staff have had major damage to their homes and are still in the process of cleaning up and securing their properties.

Because of this, we are currently short-handed, and it’s going to take us a little longer to get the Venice gallery fully operational again.

We’re working hard to put everything back together, but we ask for your understanding as we navigate through this process.

Galleries Reopening:

We are planning to reopen the Venice Gallery & Studio next Tuesday, October 22nd.

The Big Cypress Gallery is now open 7-days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 941-486-0811 or email Danielle@clydebutcher.com.

Hurricane Andrew deposited many dead trees onto the beaches of Ten Thousand Islands in the Everglades in 1992. When Clyde photographed them years later, the trees were bleached white by the sun, creating beautiful white sculptural pieces that lay as monuments attesting to the strength of this storm.

We need to share an update regarding the open house and swamp celebration. Unfortunately, Clyde and Niki Butcher will no longer be able to attend the event.

While we can’t share the details just yet, rest assured that their absence is for positive reasons. Stay tuned for some exciting news coming your way soon—keep an eye on your email and our social channels!

If you’d like a refund, you can request one directly through Eventbrite, and we will happily honor it. However, if you prefer to keep your ticket as a donation to The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks, your contribution will directly support the Swamp Water and Me program. This program gives students the opportunity to experience a field trip into Big Cypress and learn about its incredible natural beauty.

The Big Cypress Gallery will still be open for you to explore, and all scheduled swamp walks will take place on the property as planned.
