Help us wish our son-in-law, Neal, a very happy birthday today! We are so grateful he is a part of our family and our business!

We spent a week in the Mt. Whitney – Alabama Hil

We spent a week in the Mt. Whitney – Alabama Hills area of California. This was another early morning, but this one was special.

The moon was setting over Mt. Whitney. I was excited about capturing the image.

We arrived at the location we had picked out the day before, but the moon was still to high in the sky to capture both the moon and the mountains in a photograph.

We waited for a very long time.

This photograph is hand-printed in Clyde’s darkroom on fiber-based paper, selenium toned, then mounted and matted to current archival standards.

The photograph is a limited edition and signed by Clyde.

You might say that designing a book from scratch is a labor of love. Clyde is grateful to have a dedicated team working behind the scenes to do just that!

Clyde & Niki’s daughter, Jackie, worked alongside graphic designer Anne, editor Tari, and photo editor Paul to ensure the book was just right.

Throughout the 18-month period, the team printed pages true to size to assess the visual impact of both words and images. Using the Epson printer at Venice Gallery & Studio, they produced a complete sample book that underwent thorough review before the final files were sent to the printer for production.

Clyde photographed this clamshell orchid (prosthechea cochleata) while he was working with a crew from CBS’s 60 Minutes. They retraced the path of the infamous “Orchid Thief” through the Big Cypress.

This particular clamshell orchid was one seized from the poacher and repatriated to the Everglades, with the hope it would re-establish itself on the trunk of a tree.

In this photograph, the clamshell appears to be a large flower. In reality, the bloom is quite small (about one inch), as are most of the flowers of native Florida orchids.

Cape Romano has many photographic opportunities, b

Cape Romano has many photographic opportunities, but when I heard that the dome houses were no longer on dry land, I had to see it for myself. The houses were built in 1981 on the beach of Cape Romano. They were unique structures at that time.

The fact that they are on a remote island makes them seem both futuristic and retro at the same time – and very much out of place. Now that the beach has eroded out from under the houses, they seem even more strange.

Unfortunately, the domes were washed completely out to shore when Florida was hit by Hurricane Ian in 2022.
