KISSING SEAGULL © 1969Newport Beach, CA
Early in my career, Jonathan Livingston Seagull was a best-selling novel. I was drawn to the image of the seagull on the book cover. Inspired, I sought to create a similar photograph featuring seagulls. On a foggy day, I photographed two seagulls gliding through the air. They were spaced far apart, creating negative space between them.
When I printed the image, I accidentally double-exposed the paper. Since it wasn’t what I intended, I threw the photograph in the garbage. Later, Niki found it and suggested I print it again since it reflected the book so well. I shared this image with my employees, and they resoundingly agreed with Niki! I learned a valuable lesson – sometimes accidents are a good thing!
This photograph is printed on a large format Epson printer using genuine Epson ink and archival Harman Hahnemuhle paper. Each photograph is digitally signed, then mounted and matted to current archival standards. This is a limited edition series and each photograph is numbered.
