Misty Fjords 2
The crystal blue glacial lakes, steep fjords, snow-capped peaks, and gigantic rock walls of Misty Fjord National Monument create a mosaic of colors and textures to explore. I had heard of the iconic basalt pillar called New Eddystone Rock and set out to find and photograph this majestic rock. Formed from a volcanic vent over five million years ago, New Eddystone Rock was shaped by glaciers and is now over two hundred feet tall and covered with over two hundred species of plants. It is often shrouded in a mist from the one hundred and fifty inches of precipitation that fall on it annually. As our tour boat gently cruised through the strait to reach Misty Fjords, we passed New Eddystone Rock. I dashed to the other side of the ship to capture an image of this behemoth jutting out of the water. Shooting from a moving vessel was a challenge, but I managed to get a few decent photographs. This photograph is printed on a large format Epson printer using genuine Epson ink and archival Harman Hahnemuhle paper. Each photograph is digitally signed, then mounted and matted to current archival standards. This is a limited edition series and each photograph is numbered.
