Not many people have the opportunity to live within a national park or preserve, although many of us have spent extended amounts of time visiting them. Niki and I had the unique opportunity to purchase thirteen acres in the middle of over a million acres of wilderness in Big Cypress Preserve in 1992. Life had dealt our family a terrible blow with the loss of our son, Ted, and Big Cypress became our sanctuary where we could find peace amongst the wondrous mystery of the swamp. Our experience of living in Big Cypress made us understand how essential it is to take care of our planet and all the precious life within it. This world is a beautiful, life-saving gift to us; let’s save it together. There are no alternatives; there is no Planet B.
