KIRBY STORTER 1 © 2014Western Everglades
I captured this photograph near the entrance of the Kirby Storter Boardwalk. Kirby Storter is just off Highway 41 in the Big Cypress National Preserve. This trailhead has been called a “gentle introduction to the Everglades” due to its proximity to the road and its easily accessible half-mile boardwalk that ends at a luscious pond. However, this shot was captured at the entrance area, an open wet prairie and cypress slough, where a vibrant hub of wildlife within the heart of Georges Strand thrives.
