NORTH FORK NEW RIVER © 2003Ft. Lauderdale, FL
In 2003, the Broward County Cultural Affairs approached me asking if I would like to participate in “Arts in Public Places” by placing three one-of-a-kind photographs in the Ft. Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport. The images were to be six feet by sixteen feet and placed in terminals 2 and 3 above the escalators.
John Rude, Executive Director of Broward Urban River Trails, brought together Margaret McPhearson & David from South Florida Water Management District and Kevin Carter, for an adventurous trip up the New River in Ft. Lauderdale. The Broward Urban River Trails had been working to clean up the New River and reconnect it to its original water source: the Everglades. To my amazement, I found more than houses along the New River. Many photographic opportunities presented themselves and I had a great time capturing a part of the river that few had photographed.
