MELBOURNE, FLA. — Powerful and haunting photographs of Florida landscapes will fill the galleries at Foosaner Art Museum starting June 8 with the opening of Clyde Butcher: Florida’s Photographer. The show, featuring 69 Butcher photos from the museum’s permanent collection, will remain up until Oct. 19. The images are from his Limited Edition Collection; scenes from Florida’s forests, swamps and estuaries which Butcher captured with his large-format camera between 1986 and 1995. Butcher’s black-and-white photographs enable him to express the details and textures that distinguish the Florida landscape. He said his hope is that by highlighting the Sunshine State’s natural beauty, undeveloped areas of the state will be preserved.
