We always love spending time on Sanibel Island. It’s a quick get-away to a tropical island without actually having to fly anywhere! We spent two weeks on the island enjoying the ambiance and having fun photographing.

While Clyde entrusted the heavy design tasks to his team, he remained deeply engaged in the artistic aspects of the book's creation.

Crucial to crafting a fine art book was ensuring that the black-and-white photo selections told the intended story and that the images were flawless.

He dedicated ample time to collaborating with Paul, ensuring the images were edited to perfection. Without Clyde's final seal of approval, the book files couldn't be sent to the printer.

This foggy photograph of Big Talbot Island was tak

This foggy photograph of Big Talbot Island was taken in the summer. The temperature was in the 90s and the humidity was unbearable. I had a very difficult time focusing the camera because my glasses would fog up, then my lens would fog, then my ground focusing glass would fog and by the time I finished wiping one clear, another would fog up! I finally had to guess at the focus and just take the picture and hope it would work. The island of Big Talbot is a state park located in the northeast corner of Florida near the Georgia border.

Help us wish our son-in-law, Neal, a very happy birthday today! We are so grateful he is a part of our family and our business!

We spent a week in the Mt. Whitney – Alabama Hil

We spent a week in the Mt. Whitney – Alabama Hills area of California. This was another early morning, but this one was special.

The moon was setting over Mt. Whitney. I was excited about capturing the image.

We arrived at the location we had picked out the day before, but the moon was still to high in the sky to capture both the moon and the mountains in a photograph.

We waited for a very long time.

This photograph is hand-printed in Clyde’s darkroom on fiber-based paper, selenium toned, then mounted and matted to current archival standards.

The photograph is a limited edition and signed by Clyde.

You might say that designing a book from scratch is a labor of love. Clyde is grateful to have a dedicated team working behind the scenes to do just that!

Clyde & Niki’s daughter, Jackie, worked alongside graphic designer Anne, editor Tari, and photo editor Paul to ensure the book was just right.

Throughout the 18-month period, the team printed pages true to size to assess the visual impact of both words and images. Using the Epson printer at Venice Gallery & Studio, they produced a complete sample book that underwent thorough review before the final files were sent to the printer for production.

📷 Starting May 1st, we are diving into a multi-part series sharing Clyde’s life and photography in conjunction with the release of his newest book, arriving in September 2024.
