The story behind the card by Jackie Butcher Obendorf:
After my brother Ted was killed by a drunk driver, I dropped out of college in a state of complete sadness. A year later, I started to get my life back on track and decided to start my own business. At the time, my mother Niki was having great success at the art fairs with her hand-painted black and white photographs. I approached my parents and asked if I could use my college money to start a business making postcards with my mom's artwork to sell to retail stores. I knew my mom's designs would be a hit, and within my first year, I had achieved great success in Florida!
I was ready to get creative and add Christmas cards to the collection. Mom and I agreed that Christmas in Florida should be pink and turquoise, not the more traditional red and green, so we set up some shots at the beach on a hot steamy day in July. Mom and I convinced a very reluctant Clyde to dress up as Santa for this occasion. He was very grumpy, dressed up in a warm red coat on a hot summer day until a group of bikini-clad girls approached him requesting pictures with Santa. Needless to say, that lifted his spirits, and shortly after, mom got the perfect shot!
