This scene was photographed with a Canon digital camera early in June after the onset of seasonal rains in the wetlands of the Greater Everglades ecosystem. This landscape captures a distant cypress dome surrounded by a freshwater marsh just after a late afternoon storm. Occasionally, large flocks of bright white and flashy pink wading birds will hunt these waters and take refuge for the night preferring the taller cypress trees.
