In 2012, Clyde and Niki were on their way to the coast of California and hadn’t been to Joshua Tree since sometime in the 1970s so they decided to check it out again.

They spent a couple of days having fun photographing, but like so many other adventures, it wasn't long enough.

Although alligators are often depicted as ruthless

Although alligators are often depicted as ruthless and violent, they also have a soft side, as Niki and I have seen over the years while surrounded by more than a million acres of Everglades wilderness.

We’ve witnessed the courtship of the resident alligators and the protectiveness of the female as she watches after her hatchlings for their first two years. She discourages gators other than her mate from entering the pond, driving off intruders with a territorial bellow and physical displays while welcoming her mate with soft rumbles.

Like the majority of wild animals, these ancient reptiles can be dangerous and should be respected. When it comes to wildlife, never take your safety for granted when you’re out in the wild.

Clyde has never seen so many Osprey nests located

Clyde has never seen so many Osprey nests located so close to each other as what he saw while canoeing the perimeter of Lake Russell. This particular Osprey nest was artistically located in a sculptural cypress tree. He couldn’t resist taking a photograph of this beautiful nest. I

He photographed this at the Disney Wilderness Preserve in Central Florida near Kissimmee. The Preserve is run by The Nature Conservancy and is a haven in the mad rush of “fun” in the Orlando area.

Gwynns Falls Leakin Park is one of the beautiful secrets of Baltimore, Maryland. Designed by the Olmsted Brothers, son’s of the famous designer of Central Park, it is 1,216 acres of beautiful wilderness in the midst of a booming city. It is the largest woodland park of any city on the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Hiking though the park, I found myself forgetting that I was in a city. I felt a wonderful connection to nature and found a deep appreciation for the visionary founders of Baltimore who included a wilderness area for the people so that they would have a place to restore their spirit.
